These silver coins are hard to find and becoming increasingly rare..
The obverse depicts a frontier family of three in front of an old American flag with 13 stars. Centered upon the silhouette of America's borders, this family is encircled by "FREEDOM" and "THE AMERICAN WAY".
The reverse shows an elaborate scale encircled by "JOHNSON MATTHEY" and "1 TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER". "1985" is to the left of the scale and "USA" is to the right of it. Below the scale is the JM logo with crossed hammers.
